It wouldn't be the simplest track to ride this lad on. You got to take your time early because he would get keen. It worked out well and we got the right result. J.M. Sheridan, rider of Cuban Grey (GB), trained by Patrick J. McKenna, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly right throughout

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Eruption, ridden by R. Whearty, placed sixth, Cuban Grey (GB), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, placed second, and Realtin Fantasy, ridden by M.W. Hassett, placed third, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R. Whearty stated that he felt there was a gap there between Cuban Grey and Realtin Fantasy but he felt pressure from his outside causing him to take a slight check. J.M. Sheridan stated that he kept a straight line the whole way up the straight and played no part in the interference. M.W. Hassett stated that his mount was leaning left ever so slightly despite his best efforts. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Realtin Fantasy had caused slight interference to Eruption, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were also satisfied that no riding offence had occurred and took no further action

R. Whearty, rider of Eruption, trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was tight for room inside the last furlong.
