King of the claimers Yuften landed a gamble in the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Awards 2019 Handicap at Dundalk.
Backed from 11/1 into 6/1 Yuften won for the first time in this sphere since landing the Balmoral Handicap at Ascot in 2016.
The eight-year-old has won seven times in the interim in claiming company, moving between stables regularly.
Joe Doyle rode Yuften here for owner James McAuley and trainer Denis Hogan and he got the son of Invincible Spirit home by two and three parts of a length from joint favourite Tommy Taylor
“He's done it real well. He's an old professional and he seems to be in great order,” said Doyle.
“He's getting a bit of a break for Christmas and he'll be back in the New Year, hopefully in the same form.
“I'm lucky to get the spin on him as he's usually the apprentices ride."
The Stewards interviewed Vanessa Maye, rider of Geological concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Vanessa Maye was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using her whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by failing to allow her mount at least three strides to respond to the whip.
Having taken her previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Vanessa Maye for 2 racedays.
