What a ride as Geraghty gets Table home

Equipped with cheek-pieces for only the second time (3rd in the amateur handicap at Galway the previous time he'd sported the aids) Table Mountain was literally 'lifted' home by Barry Geraghty in thetote.com Handicap Hurdle at Navan.
For the many that had supported the 6/4 favourite (from 11/4 this morning), the cause looked a lost one from some way out. However the two mile trip is clearly a minimum for the Milan-sired top-weight and Geraghty galvanised him to chase Mac Tigue down to the last. Mac Tigue wasn't great there under Ben Dalton and Geraghty didn't need a second invite, seizing on his chance, getting his mount up to score by three parts of a length.
A 200,000 guineas buy out of Ballydoyle back in October 2010, Robbie Hennessy trains Table Mountain for his father Bill.
Robbie commented: "He wants every yard of two and a half miles but we took a chance here today as it's a stiff track and he won twice here on the flat.
"It paid off and Barry gave him some ride.
"He'll be some horse over the summer for jumps and the flat and I might look at Punchestown for him now." (MG & EM)
