Well-backed Con returns to form

Neverushacon justified strong support when successfully switched back to hurdles at Gowran Park in the Morrison BMW Hurdle.

Available at 5/1 this morning before being hammered down to 2/1 and further supported on track into 7/4 favourite for this four-year-olds' race, the Richie Galway-owned gelding was never far from the pace.

The Echo Of Light gelding made the frame on his hurdle debut at Punchestown last November but has been campaigned solely on the flat this year winning a maiden at Limerick.

Robbie Power 's mount struck the front before the straight, and was driven right out on the run-in to beat Vercingetorix by a length and three quarters.

Winning trainer Jessica Harrington said, "That should keep the son-in-law happy! He ran bad at the Curragh last time but he'd three quick runs and I've done nothing with him since.

"I was delighted with the way he jumped considering he'd only one run over hurdles and the others had a lot more experience.

"Robbie said he was doing nothing in front and had his ears pricked. He'll mix it with the flat and hopefully will end up in the four-year-old hurdle at Galway or he could be hijacked into the big amateur handicap."
