Vinny & Jessie Double Up for the Mullins'
Jessies Dream won a point-to-point and was a neck runner-up in a bumper in Martin Lynch's colours when under the care of Paul Cashman and on his first start for Willie Mullins he completed a double for the yard and Patrick, when proving a length and a quarter too good for Byrnes Cross in the bumper.
Patrick had earlier steered Cousin Vinny to victory in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Irish Racing Writers Novice Hurdle. In the two mile three furlong bumper, Jessies Dream travelled supremely well to get into contention but he had to work a bit to beat off the very gallant runner-up.
Mullins said: "It was a good decision by the authorities to let the meeting continue. This fellow was a very difficult quirky horse and Raymond Dunne has done a fantastic job at home to get him to settle. He needs a trip and he will probably go jumping now." (EM)
