Typhoon storms home to cause shock
Big Typhoon sprang a 20/1 shock in the five-furlong maiden at Dundalk when getting the better of the two market leaders. An Saighdiur and Capulet Monteque were sent off 9/4 joint favourites but lost out to the Tom McCourt-trained charge in a tight finish.
Ben Curtis sent his mount up to dispute at the furlong pole and he had a short-head to spare over Capulet Monteque at the line with An Saighdiur a neck back in third.
"He did a great bit of work the week before last with Copper Dock and at the time I didn't know if Copper Dock had worked badly or he had went well," said McCourt.
"So it wasn't a total surprise. He's such a big baby I didn't know if he would get it together over five furlongs even though he's bred to be a sprinter."
