Kyprios (15/2) was the first one off the bridle but came home best in the Blackwater Race to win for trainer Aidan O’Brien.
Niggled along at halfway, the Galileo colt stayed on steadily down the straight to lead a furlong down and held the late challenge of O’Reilly (4/1) by half a length.
A debut winner at Galway’s September meeting last year, the full-brother to dual Irish St. Leger winner Search For A Song subsequently disappointed in Group 3 company at Newmarket but this was a much better display.
Owned by breeders Moyglare Stud Farm along with with some of the Coolmore partners, the winner also has the likes of Free Eagle, Sapphire and Custom Cut amongst his siblings and holds entries in the Dante, Epsom Derby and Irish Derby.
Winning rider Seamie Heffernan said: "He did well to win at two and it was great to get a win and a bit of experience into him.
"He is not too slow and he is right there up, or just behind, the best of them (Ballydoyle three year olds).
"He has a good pedigree and is a goodish horse. I was happy."
