Trainer Joseph O'Brien and his Touch Of Oscar put a halt to trainer Ross O'Sullivan's winner-a-day gallop at Navan today as the gelding landed the Double The Odds Goalscorer Handicap Chase at the expense of O'Sullivan's Benefit Run

Trainer O'Sullivan had trained winners at Sligo, Tipperary, Cork and Dundalk on each of the last four days and while his Benefit Run appeared to hold a winning chance jumping the last, Touch Of Oscar battled gamely on the run-in to score a two and a half lengths win.

In truth having four winners in four days is not out of the ordinary for leading trainer O'Brien, who has had 21 winners in three weeks and runs a vastly bigger yard, and following Touch Of Oscar's success winning jockey J.J. Slevin said “it's great to get the win out of him. He's a good solid jumping horse and appreciated the good ground.

“It's a good jumping test around here and he liked that as well. He got me out of a hole at the second last.

“He had a nice run the first day and he probably came on from it.

“Hopefully he'll be out again in the next few weeks.”
