Richie Deegan had a couple of spins over at Cheltenham during the week but he was back on home soil to land the Wexford (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race on Thosedaysaregone
Winning trainer Charles Byrnes has credited Richie Downes with buying his talented bunch of youngsters, that have been carrying all before them in bumper company in recent times.
Downes was also the former owner of Cheltenham hero, Summerville Boy.
Here the twice previously third placed Thosedaysaregone drifted a little right when he had the race in the bag, and he eventually got home by a length and a quarter from Moratorium
Front-running favourite Small Farm disappointingly dropped out of it coming down the hill. He pulled up in the straight.
Supported into 9/2 from 6/1, Thosedaysaregone's display prompted Byrnes to say: "He had a couple of runs in that ground and it meant a lot.
"I'd say he just found Thurles too sharp the last day.
"We won't be aiming too high with him, but it's great to get it today. After three quick runs we might leave him off now, we'll see."
Mr F. Maguire, rider of Perito Moreno (FR) trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a noise and pulled up thereafter.
Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Small Farm trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly and pulled up thereafter.
