Templar lands quick double for Lyons
It was a quick double for Ger Lyons in the two-year-old maiden at Dundalk as Knights Templar repeated the feat of One Set in the first by making all.
He was strongly challenged under two furlongs from home but found more, under Johnny Murtagh, to go clear inside the final furlong for a two-and-a-half length victory over Miss Velocity
"I'm delighted for the owners Simon Girvan and Donal O'Brien who are two lovely fellas," said Shane Lyons, brother of the winning trainer.
"Simon is a real character and it was his dream to have Johnny ride one for him.
"The horse did it well. He was beaten by a very good one in Tipperary last time. We were just hoping he would step up and his home work was very good.
"He'll be a lovely horse to look forward to next year."
