Thunder Speed completed a double for trainer Tommy Stack and jockey Wayne Lordan at Dundalk today, winning the Elusive Pimpernel Maiden on his second racecourse outing.
The son of Dylan Thomas, seventh on debut at the venue in November, was today clear of the chasing pack with a furlong to race and while runner-up Thomas O’Malley finished strongest, Thunder Speed held on for a half length win.
Afterwards Fozzy Stack, who is set to take over the training license from his father Tommy Stack in the new year, stated “he was a bit disappointing here on his first run but he’s not a bad horse - he’s a nice horse.
“He belongs to a Hong Kong client Mr Chiu; he owned a good Dylan Thomas horse in Hong Kong called Blazing Speed and I’d say he (Thunder Speed) will end up in Hong Kong eventually; it’s just a matter of when.”
