Mikey Sheehy made his first ride for Aidan O’Brien a winning one as Scholastic finished well to land the Happy Halloween Nursery Handicap at the Curragh.
Joey Sheridan looked set to record a double on the afternoon as Dragon Of Malta led over a furlong out on the far side but Scholastic came home strongest on the stands’ side to provide Sheehy with his fifth career win.
Trained by O’Brien for his wife Anne Marie, the 10/1 chance led inside the final 100 yards to score by a length and a quarter, with Sasta another half-a-length back in third.
O'Brien said, “We're delighted. She's one of Donnacha's so it's great, and the owner is happy!
“She's a grand filly, she's a home-bred filly. She handles an ease in the ground and he gave her a lovely ride.
“Donnacha thought that she was improving. She travelled well through it.”
