Randall’s Alannah proved too strong for her two rivals in the seven furlong juvenile maiden at Sligo.

The daughter of High Chaparral raced behind Dorothy Parker and picked up the lead 150 yards from home before being driven out by Michael Hussey to beat staying on Desiderata by half a length.

Seamus Fahey trains the filly and he said: “It was a lucky bit of placing! A lot of lads would say they had it planned for six months.

“It’s great for the owner Finbarr Kelly as he bred her as well. He has a couple of half sisters at home. I’m not sure if they’ll go to the sales, but if they do this win will help.

“She’ll go for a handicap in three weeks time. We won’t get carried away with ourselves.”

This was Fahey’s first win for 212 days. Randall’s Alannah was backed this morning from 7/2 to 11/4 and was returned at 5/2.

Runner-up Desiderata was the 11/4 outsider and Dorothy Parker was the 5/6 favourite. She had nothing more to give in the final furlong.
