Quinlan at his best
Directa King showed a good turn of foot when taking the concluding Peter Clohessy’s Bar & Sin Bin Nightclub Q.R Race under a fine ride by Roger Quinlan.
It was a double on the day for winning trainer Dermot Weld who was on the mark earlier when Precious Gem took the Martin Moloney Stakes.
Quinlan produced the 3/1 shot with a well timed run to lead inside the final furlong.
The pair soon forged clear to score by a convincing length and a half win over 4/6 favourite Cloone Rocket
Kris Weld said afterwards: “He’s had loads of problems but has plenty of ability and it’s great to have him back.”
“Roger [Quinlan] gave him a great ride and did exactly what he was told.”
“We have no immediate plans for him at present.”
