Slipper Orchid came with a strong run up the rail to claim the Newbridge Credit Union Handicap at the Curragh.
Shane Foley tracked the leaders on the filly before delivering a challenged over a furlong out.
The 10/1 shot stayed on best inside the final furlong to post a length-and-a-quarter victory over Core Element
It was a second success of the season for the Verglas filly, who had also scored at Dundalk in March, while owner Carol Roper is also enjoying a fine run with Ondeafears having also scored at Gowran just over a week ago.
“She's as genuine as they come,” said trainer Michael Halford afterwards.
“Herself and Ondeafears are out of half-sisters. Carol (Roper) bred them all and has great patience with them.
“She's tough and genuine and it's lovely to win one at the Curragh with her. That seems to be her trip. Seven is a good trip.”
The attendance at the Curragh today was 5259, which was up 700 on last year's meeting.
