Noll Wallops opposition in Guineas Trial
Noll Wallop justified the confidence of his backers (5s into 7/2 on track, bigger earlier) in no uncertain terms when running out an impressive three and a half length winner of the Group 3 Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes.
The son of High Chaparral moved up travelling well at the two furlong pole and when asked to go about his business a furlong and a half out the response was pretty immediate.
Winning rider Wayne Lordan said: "He has always worked well since he was a two-year-old. We weren't sure what to expect here but we knew he'd stay."
'Fozzy' Stack, son and assistant to the winning trainer, Tommy, said: "The Irish Guineas wasn't a consideration until about 10 minutes ago. The Irish Guineas and the Irish Derby could be the route we take and the Dante would also be a consideration." The Gallinule Stakes was another race mentioned.
Boylesports go 12/1 for the Irish 2,000 Guineas about Noll Wallop whilst William Hill have him at 14/1. Meanwhile the latter firm has left second placed Viscount Nelson at 33/1 for the Epsom Derby.
This success was continuing Stacks lightning-fast start to the season (four-timer at the Curragh last Sunday).
