Mount Helicon lands Cork Grade 3
Tom Hogan has done marvelously well with the ex-Alan King trained Mount Helicon and the son of Montjeu reached new heights when landing the Grade 3 Dial-A-Bet 1800 721 821 European Breeders Fund Novice Hurdle at Cork.
Twice a winner on the level in his time with Andre Fabre, the five-year-old was stepping up to three miles here but that proved no barrier to success for the 9/10 favourite as he led before the last and went on to beat Original Option by a length and three parts. The result was confirmed after a steward's enquiry.
Hogan said: "He'll come back here in December for another three mile novice hurdle. He is a lovely horse and he jumps well. He doesn't want the ground as heavy as that."
