On a day when Trading Leather faces his biggest task todate in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, stablemate Morga did her bit for the Coolcullen team in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
The Jim Bolger-trained filly was scoring here at the eighth attempt in this extended mile event having been campaigned over a variety of trips.
The daughter of Whipper was galvanised by Ronan Whelan to challenge in the straight and showed a nice turn of foot.
The 7/2 chance quickened up well to head the front-running Fire And Flame (15/8 favourite) about 150 yards out, and stayed on really well to score by four and a quarter lengths. Balmont Belle (11/2) was outpaced approaching the straight but kept on to take third spot a further length adrift.
Whelan said, "She ran like we thought she would. She travelled well, and she will be even better with a cut in the ground."
