The concluding 2m 4f bumper was run in heavy rain and, after a steady pace, plenty turned in with a chance but it was Breakeven (4/1) who picked up best under Hugh McOwan to score by a length from Mason City
The Scorpion gelding still looked a bit raw as he veered right around a furlong out, but he was clear at the time and after being straightened up he won with a bit in hand.
The 13/8 favourite Western Run was a further three and a quarter lengths back in third.
The winning 7lb claiming rider is three from three in bumpers this season, having ridden a couple of winners for Gordon Elliott in that time.
The winning trainer Tom Mullins, an uncle of the winning rider, said: "He is a gorgeous horse who won two point to points. He showed a nice bit of speed in his point to points and we thought he'd win a bumper.
"Denis Murphy had him previously and I got him in May; he came alive on me in the last week and we were waiting on (easy) ground to run him.
"I'm sure he has the speed for two mile and he will definitely go hurdling now."
