Robbie Power gave Maller Tree a finely judged front-running ride to land the spoils in the DSM Demolition Hurdle at Naas.

The Karinga Bay gelding had his rivals at work jumping the second last and had things in safe keeping going to the final flight.

The 9/2 shot keep on strongly to post a cosy six-and-a-half length victory over Texas Jack and give trainer Jessica Harrington a double on the card.

The winner was making his return to action having finish mid-division in a Punchestown handicap when last seen in April.

"That was a bit unexpected. The plan was to go to Cheltenham in November but I don't know about that now. The owners are English so would like to run over there," said Emma Galway, daughter of the trainer.

"He was very game and Robert gave him a great ride. He probably got a soft lead and was able to dictate things."

Robbie Power said: "He wants better ground, but he's a tough genuine horse. I think he's better than last year. I got a soft lead and he jumped well."
