Niall Madden recorded his first winner since returning from injury as he partnered the well-backed Harvey Logan to victory in the Profile Systems Kommerling Handicap Hurdle.
Madden broke his leg at Clonmel in April and he only returned to action at Roscommon last month.
Harvey Logan, who is trained by Noel Meade and owned by JP McManus, was making his handicap debut this afternoon and while he was available at 5/1 in a place last night he was just 9/4 this morning, opening on-course at 15/8 before going off the clear 6/4 favourite.
Settled in second he was ridden to challenge after two out and hit the front after the last, keeping on nicely under pressure to score by half a length. Elishpour kept on well in the closing stages but he had to settle for second under Danny Mullins for Tony Martin at 9/2. Pencilhimin finished a further three parts of a length back in third, under Danny Benson for Norman Cassidy, after his bold attempt to make all came up just short.
Noel Meade said afterwards: "Just about! He nearly deserves it although he's been a bit disappointing really.
“He'll go for more of the same. He seemed to stay well and like that ground, although he won't see much more of that.
“Harvey Logan was one of the Hole-in-the-wall gang, one of Butch Cassidy's men.”
