The Hilary McLoughlin trained Macadam's Rock kept on best inside the final furlong to record his fourth victory at the track when landing the William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap at Dundalk.

Runner-up on his last visit to the course a fortnight ago, the seven-year-old went one place better under a well judged ride from Ben Coen.

Tracking the pace from the offset, the son of Fascinating Rock was brought stands side entering the straight to deliver his challenge.

Another course specialist Mullacash Buzz set the fractions under Dylan O'Connor but was picked up inside the final furlong. To his credit, the Thomas Dowling trained gelding kept on well to hold second place from Hezahunk

Ben Coen said: "He's a lovable oul rogue and ran well here the last day.

"It set up nice for him today, they went a nice gallop and I was able to come with one kind of swoop down the outside. He doesn't do much when he gets there.

"Off those sort of marks he is competitive.

"I suppose a fast-run seven is ideal for him. He doesn't have the pace for six and he doesn't quite see out the mile, so seven furlongs where they go a nice gallop is ideal.

"Nice to get his head back in front."
