Zeftan bolted up by nine lengths in the Boodles Ladies Derby Handicap at the Curragh, with Helen Mooney the pilot on board.
The well-backed Udogu came home second at 4/1, a neck in front of Modem (4/1).
The seven-year-old gelding also won this race a couple of years ago under Evanna McCutcheon.
He travelled well on the bridle for Mooney and took over from Udogu a furlong and a half down.
He powered away in the latter stages to win as he pleased.
Handler Adrian Keatley said: "He had a long time off. We gave him a run in Naas and knew it would bring him on. We were happy with him coming here.
“He had 4lb less than when he won it two years ago and Helen was taking off 7lb so it worked out well.
“She gave him a great ride. She might have won a bit too far but we won't be too concerned about that.
“We're delighted with him and we'll see if there is anything in Galway for him.
“He does love this place though and seems better on a big galloping track. We'll have a look and see what is coming up and see how he is in the morning.”
Helen Mooney said: "Adrian had him spot on and he ran a cracker, sure I only had to sit there! I hit the front a bit early. I was thinking if something comes to catch me I'll never live it down. He did it well. He was in brilliant order, a lovely spin and well done to Adrian and the lads in the yard.
"It's hard to get a ride in these races so I was delighted to get a spin."
