Calum Hogan's claim was reduced to 7lb following Run The Jewels (12/1) success in Dundalk's Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Apprentice Handicap (Div I) today, as the apprentice jockey notched a third winner.
Run The Jewels' previous win came at the 2022 Listowel festival and today, ridden for the first time by Hogan, overcame a wide position to lead a furlong out and beat Monzoon by 1.75 lengths.
Winning trainer Michael McCullagh wasn't present and Hogan reported "we jumped and there was pace on and got caught wide turning in. I was just conscious when we did turn in that I got a clear run on him.
"I probably got there a little soon but he has found plenty. I was trying to just niggle away for as long as I could and, once I got there, he ran around with me a small bit.
"He looked like a horse that had lost his form in recent times but has done it nicely."
Jockey Hogan, eager for race-riding and son of ex-jump jockey Ray Hogan, had previously ridden winners for trainers Eric McNamara and Kevin Coleman.
