Heffernan banned after Drumbeat ride
Seamus Heffernan was handed a four-day ban for injudicious riding after his mount Drumbeat finished second to stable-mate Hail Caesar in the Gowran Park Race over an extended nine furlongs.
Sean Levey poached a clear lead on Hail Ceasar, and had his rivals in trouble turning for home. Heffernan appeared to have plenty of horse, however, as the evens favourite travelled well in fourth behind two rivals. He switched his mount over a furlong out but although he ran on to take second, never made any impression on the winner.
"Aidan said to ride him as I found him. He was keen enough in first time blinkers, and stayed on really well," said Levey of the winner afterwards.
It was a double on the card for Aidan O'Brien who struck earlier with At First Sight in the two-year-old maiden.
