Irish Acclaim registered a fifth career win at Dundalk today as the Joseph O'Brien trained gelding provided jockey Mikey Sheehy with a double in the Michael Cooney Memorial Handicap.
Carrying the colours of the Thoroughbred Racing Syndicate, the son of Acclamation beat Baldomero by a length and three parts to double Sheehy's tally, having won the half-hour earlier handicap on the Ross O'Sullivan trained Monzoon
Following the race O'Brien's assistant Brendan Powell reported “it's nice to get his head in front. He travelled beautifully and it never really looked like he was going to get beaten.
“When he ran in Lingfield and nearly got brought down Dylan felt he would have won that day. He seems to love this surface. It was a competitive little race today and he's gone and done it nicely.
“He's in the sales at Newmarket but if there is something else here in a week or two Joseph could bring him back. Mikey said he was always confident on him today and he's riding well at the moment.”
