It was hard work for punters in the Coolmore N.H. Sires Leading Light & Ocovango Maiden Hunters Chase as the first three spots were filled by twenty and twenty five to one chances. Appropriately enough the winner was named Definite Surprise and Iggy Madden's charge was ridden to victory by Johnny King at Cork.
This contest was left pretty open when second favourite Red Sunset was pulled up after a mistake early, and he was also hampered.
Market-leader Need To Know wasn't flawless in the jumping department either, and he had no more to give over the final couple, eventually having to make do with seventh place.
Definite Surprise came home well to touch off Doctor Braveheart and Island Master by a length and a quarter and half a length.
The winner was reversing form from Dromahane with the fourth home in this, Myselfandjoe and he was adding to his gains from Punchestown point-to-point in February.
Mr P. Power, rider of Red Sunset, trained by Kieran Purcell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount pulled up lame.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Red Sunset trained by Kieran Purcell was lame post race.
