Crossfirehurricane led home a 1-2 for trainer Joseph O'Brien in the featured Listed Woodford Reserve Patton Stakes at Dundalk this evening as the Shane Cross partnered colt maintained a three-race unbeaten record.
The son of Kitten's Joy made a winning debut at Limerick last June and while absent from then until making a winning return to action at today's venue on February 7, this evening made the breakthrough at Listed level as he beat stablemate Choice Of Mine by half a length.
Afterwards jockey Crosse reported “he’s done nothing wrong since day one. We didn’t go hard today and I was happy to move outside Declan (McDonogh, on runner-up Choice Of Mine) and get a lead into it. The two of us have pulled away from the third horse.
“He jumped well so I wasn’t going to take him back. He was travelling and he can be a bit lazy but you would rather have them that way than the other way.
“He has the speed for a mile and I could see him going further.”
