A beaten favourite with a first-time visor over further last time, Time And Money came good today to shed his maiden tag at the eighth time of asking in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap at Dundalk.
Backed from 4/1 into 100/30 second favourite, Time And Money (cheek-pieces this time) gained the day by half a length and a short head. Koybig and Munfallet did best of the rest but there was no denying the successful son of Epaulette this afternoon.
He disputed the lead before being headed at halfway.
Pushed along in second two furlongs out, Conor Hoban’s mount was ridden to lead a furlong out.
Strongly pressed inside the final furlong, Andy Oliver’s winner stayed on well close home to seal the deal.
Said Hoban: “He was due that and that will do his confidence the world of good.
“The race panned out beautifully and in fairness when he got to the front he stuck it out well to the line.
“He just needed that win to get his confidence back as he was second on numerous occasions. Andy has done a good job keeping him sweet and he enjoyed coming back to that trip.”
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Jack Berry House (GB), trained by John C. McConnell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
