Harry Rogers put a first win of 2021 on the board when Clifftop got there just in time to take the Foxrock Handicap at Leopardstown under Chris Hayes.
Hayes sported the Grand National winning silks of Numbersixvalverde. Bernard Carroll owned that 2006 Aintree hero and the Clare-native has Clifftop in partnership with Ralph Kelly and Thomas Cox.
Six to one market-leader Duquesa Beach ran a big race from her draw out in stall twenty three but she couldn’t quite fend off Clifftop who got up to triumph by a nose.
Like the winner of the previous heat, Blue For You Clifftop was returned a 22/1 chance.
“It was a long time coming but he got there. Chris gave him a good ride,” said Rogers.
“It's nice to get one on the board and it keeps the thing ticking over.
“He's in again on Saturday at Navan and he might run, we'll see how he is. He's a fun horse.
“He'll probably go over hurdles after the weekend, he jumps well. He's really a summer horse, the faster the ground the better he is.”
R.C. Colgan, rider of Sideshow Bob trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not get a clear run in the straight.
James J. Doyle, rider of Drummer (GB) trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost a front shoe in running.
