"She was a filly that was due a win and we were trying different things," said Keith Clarke after his Poetic Choice added to her two wins in England when getting off the mark over here in the Bet #5 Get #20 In Free Bets At Coral.ie Handicap at Dundalk.
Robbie Downey was aboard the Byron mare who dwelt at the gates and was soon pushed along into mid-division.
Ridden to get on terms a furlong out, the successful 8/1 shot soon led and she eventually had a length and a quarter and three parts of a length in hand over Rose Angel (9/2 into 3/1 favourite) and Ishebayorgrey
"It worked in her favour breaking slowly. She prefers a wide draw and she seems happier coming from the outside in and not being intimidated on the inner," added Clarke.
"When Robbie produced her he said she was full of running and he said she just done enough.
"Thankfully the line came in time. I was told she wouldn't get a mile."
