Bright Future Generation
Future Generation battled on from the front to snare the feature Group 3 Desmond Stakes at Leopardstown under a strong drive from Keagan Latham.
The 3/1 second favourite (opened 7/2) fended off even money favourite Emiyna by three parts of a length as Johnny Murtagh’s mount failed to get on terms with the winner in the final furlong as she hung under pressure.
Delighted trainer Ger Lyons said: “That’s grand. She’s all heart and a lovely filly. She has been improving all summer and the whole idea was to get black type with her.
“She wasn’t 100% right last time [second in the Group 3 Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh]. It looked a very hot race on paper. I thought I would declare her and see. When I saw the race I thought she had a chance of winning.
“I knew she wouldn’t let us down. It’s nice to win a Group 3 with her and it’s very important for Ennistown Stud the breeders.”
8/1 chance Moran Gra ran well for Joanna Morgan in third, a length and three parts behind Emiyna.
