All Or Now travelled eye-catchingly well in mid division in the two and a half mile maiden hurdle, and after working his way through the field was pushed out for a snug success by Brian Cawley.

He may have gone off at 25/1, but handler Barry Murphy’s charge didn’t race like an outsider and the win didn’t shock owner Ray Healy who said: “I wasn’t surprised at all. He disappointed at Wexford [seventh in a maiden hurdle on July 5], but the ground was against him.

“He’ll go to Galway now for a two and a half to three mile handicap hurdle.”

Healy is from Loughrea, Co Galway. He watched his eight-year-old gelding come home by a neck after Cawley got serious with him in the last 100 yards. Kathleen Frances who was second for trainer Dot Love, attracted plenty of money from 10/1 to 6/1 on the off. This six-year-old daughter of Sakhee has three wins to her name in Britain when trained by Mark Tompkins and after this creditable display another win could be on the cards soon. Key People at 6/1 completed the placings in this 18-runner event. Tote Players got paid almost 34.5/1 on the winner. Deep Determination for Christy Roche and Jody McGarvey, was well punted in the ring from 20/1 down to 12/1, but he finished 11th, two places behind 5/1 favourite Evesham Star
