A couple of fancied ones came out of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ Maiden, and the 74-rated Acquiescent (9/2) put her experience to good use to just foil the Ger Lyons-trained newcomer Lilandra (7/4 jt fav).
The winner, who’d run a couple of nice races from three starts last season, hit the front inside the two furlong marker and knuckled down well for Killian Leonard to prevail by half a length, with a length and a quarter back to the other 7/4 jt fav Darkest
Trained by John Murphy, the home-bred winner, by Footstepsinthesand, is a full-sister to Confrontational, who won four times for the same trainer in recent years before being sold to race in Britain.
“She was very good, said winning jockey Killian Leonard. She had a couple of solid runs in maidens last year.”
“She ran well from a bad draw in Dundalk so I was hopeful of her chances coming here today.
“She's by Footstepsinthesand and they usually go on quick ground. It's not as quick as I thought it would be, there is plenty of water on it. She did it well at the line."
