that was great, we gave him a little break after his last run and freshened him up. He switched off well today, jumped well and when he switched off he is a different horse. Some days he is keen other days he isn't. I thought this race was a bit stronger than the one he won at Killarney last August and the nicer ground helped. I walked the track beforehand and thought there was a strip of ground on the inner which was quicker. He could go for a chase soon but we might wait to hopefully get one more hurdle out of him.

he was doing things all wrong, was too keen and then we were dropping him back in trip but ideally he wants 2m4f. Ian McCarthy (recently retired jockey turned pre-trainer) has done all the work with him and has done a great job. He was very free, especially in the three year old hurdles and Ian has been working away teaching him to settle and Mikey gave him a great ride today. He is only a four year old, there should be more improvement in him and was still a bit free for the first couple of furlongs. When he learns to do things right there might even be another day in him on the flat. He might go to Bellewstown on Wednesday, we'll see how he is but there is no mad panic as I couldn't see him getting much more than his penalty.

He had a good run around here but he didn't like the Curragh,. He was on the outside all the way up the Curragh and Shane couldn't get him to go at all. That's why we put the cheek-pieces on him and it probably helped him that they went very hard early on. He got time to get himself going. He took a while to get going and then he's won well at the end. He stayed well and he couldn't even pull him up. He's probably going to end up a mile-and-a-half horse. It's nice to have a winner for Mr Zhang. We'll see what the handicapper does with him now.
