I didn't see that coming but Henry's mare underperformed as it was her first run of the year and probably needed it. We, on the other hand, had race-fitness on our side and were going all summer. We were afraid of the ground as all her form is on good ground and hence we put the tongue-tie on as she had her palate operated on before. Surprisingly Cian said she loved the ground. We'll go for a handicap chase now or else look for blacktype in mares' chases. Ronan (Tynan, owner) is a breeder at the end of the day and wants these mares for breeding.

Henry (de Bromhead) had all the ground work done with her and I got her but she doesn't show a lot at home,. The only good bit of work she has done is when I brought her to the Curragh but she won easy at Kilbeggan and seemed to win easy again there. I was running her back a week too soon but this race really fitted in. She'll stay three miles and we'll hopefully nick a bit of black-type. She is a grand honest mare and will continue on for the summer. I have seven jumpers to run although a few of the point-to-pointers came in recently. I find the flat easier and there is a worldwide market for horses whereas you're either in the clique or not with the jumping market. Ronan has five horses with me and that's his fifth winner with me - he do be complaining about the bill but that'll keep him happy!
