He’s taken to it so well, he loves it. He’s careful enough over his fences in chases and you might think that he wouldn’t have the heart for it but he’s taken to it really well. There is a race at Cheltenham in December and he’ll probably go there. I don’t know too much about it but Keith says the course is very different to here. We’ll be happy to get him over there at the next meeting and get him around it. That was Vanillier's first time over them (cross-country obstacles) and you would be happy enough with him (finished a running-on sixth). It generally takes him a run.

He was right there the other day and was going well (when taken out by a loose horse). I suppose it was lucky enough that it wasn’t too far into the race that he could come back here today. He actually benefitted from the experience of the race the other day. He knew his job much better and has a future at this job. Sean said the other day he was inclined to jump over the hedges where today he flicked through them. He’s a very laidback kind of horse and takes his races well. The second horse also ran well and we’ll probably keep him at this as well. They will both go on a summer break now.

We fancied him the last day in Punchestown, but he never jumped. He jumped the first couple, but then missed nearly every fence after that. For a horse who didn't jump, he wasn't beaten that far. A bit of better ground helped today and he jumped well. He had plenty of light at this fences and he gave him a smashing ride. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him as after he won his maiden hurdle, he had plenty of chances without winning.

Coming here if he finished fourth or fifth, I'd have been delighted but happy days and that was great. He was second in a point-to-point so we knew he'd stay well. He was a little green the whole way around, they went a good gallop and he stayed going well. He loved that soft ground, he'll stay further and I don't know where we'll go now, maybe for a rated novice.
