It's a tough race and always a difficult one to call. He's a Grade 1 Cheltenham winner,. He ran a very good race in the Irish Cesarewitch (7th there) when there was no gallop and it didn't suit him. Everything went right today and he just got there on the line. I only have a couple of jumpers this year and the plan with him is to reappear at Christmas in a maiden hurdle.

he took time to get into stride and while he was ring-rusty, he won snug enough in the end. I rang Robbie McNamara (who partnered Silver Concorde to win at Cheltenham) about him last night and he told me that he'd travel well but that his response mightn't be as quick as you'd think and he was right. He'll improve loads for that and the race should leave him spot on for Galway.

It was a nice performance and a confident ride from Derek O'Connor. The horse won the way I thought he would. Obviously we'll look for a winners' bumper and go from there. He'll always appreciate better ground. My only concern today was the ground as he's a very good-actioned horse. He was a big weak immature horse but you saw a much more mature horse today.
