He's coming along nicely, and jumps well. Davy gave him a great ride and he'll be kept to this Grade. He seems to handle most types of ground.

Davy (Russell) gave him a good ride. I wasn't sure if he was fit enough coming here and he's given a good blow and he'll come on a bit from the run. He jumped great but he minds himself that much that he's never going to do too much wrong. When things go right for him he's grand but I wouldn't want to be depending on him too much.

Downpatrick Wed, 3rd Apr, 2013 (1st)
He's better on better ground. We might win a couple of similar conditions races with him. It might not have been the strongest race but he'll keep going now and probably jump a fence. We've had a great week and a great season. That's our 50th winner in Ireland and it'd be 51 if Bondage hadn't lost a race in Sligo. We've also had 17 cross-channel.

Shrapnel has plenty of ability but is probably quirky enough. It's another winner on the board though and we'll find another conditions hurdle for him now before he goes jumping fences. He goes on good ground so we'll probably keep him over hurdles this season and he can always go chasing next summer.
