he wasn't as impressive as at Gowran but I'd say the horse of J.P.'s (Festive Affair) is a good horse. He'll go to Punchestown for the Champion Hunters Chase next and while he may not have looked a Champion Hunter today, better ground may bring out the best in him.

I'll have to talk to the owner now but the original plan was that he'd get a break after today. He has a preference for good ground and he needs experience so we'll just have to see as these races don't seem to be taking much out of him.

He did what we hoped he'd do. Punchestown (where he finished second to Askanna) probably came too soon for him. When he is right he is very good. He is very keen and we have tried everything to settle him down, but nothing makes a difference. He had earplugs in today.

I'm not surprised he won like that, sure he never came off the bridle to win before. He was never away for a gallop before today though and that should bring him on another stone. He is a more of a chaser really though but he might go in another one of those (a hurdle). The Irish National would be his main aim as he jumps well. He'd be better off in front. He had to come here though as there were no chases for him. There was only one three miler and that was in Leopardstown at Christmas.

We've no plans for him yet. We might just leave him out on grass and comeback for a chase. He's been on the go awhile now, so we'll see what the owners say. He won't run on hard ground anyways.
