He’s been running well all year, although I think the handicapper was hard on him the last day (raised 7lb). He’s a tough old soldier, and it’s nice to get to the end of the year with a run like that,. It’s just a matter of getting the ground and getting the right track. Killian gave him a great ride, and Seamie (Heffernan) had confidence in him all year but couldn’t ride him the last day. Killian has been riding work and rode him like Seamie as he’s a horse that you have to get inside his head.

That's brilliant . super. He's in the Ayr Gold Cup but I think we'll give that a miss now. He's in at Ascot and he's in the l'Abbaye as well, whatever comes up softest. It would probably have to be very soft in France so we'll look at Ascot, there's a Group 2 on the 20th of October. That was hard enough to watch. I said to him (Spencer) to ride him with confidence but I didn't mean with that much confidence. We were a bit afraid that he might need the run as he had a month off.

Naas Sat, 21st Apr, 2012 (1st)
to be honest I was slightly worried about the ground as that's as dry as he wants it. We may go across the water now for a handicap but ground will dictate where we go as he really has to have it soft.

That was super. He deserved to get a premier handicap as he's been knocking on the door,. Wayne was absolutely super on him. We'll find a Listed race for him now. There is one over six here in a few weeks (Waterford Testimonial October 9th). He's a typical Pivotal in that he wants soft ground.

we've been looking for soft ground all year as he is a typical horse by Pivotal. Hopefully he's ok in the morning and if he is he'll take his chance in the Paddy Power Sprint here on Sunday. He is reasonably well drawn again on Sunday.
