I'm delighted with that. He's had a good break since Ascot. We let him down well after that and it's nice to get him started back. He came here two weeks ago for a canter to wake him up a bit. He should come on nicely from that as he's giving a good blow.

You'd have to be very happy, we couldn't be happier really. We were very happy with him at home. He had got stronger and was doing all the right things. He had a penalty and everything, it was his first run and it was properly run race. We haven't seen the bottom of him yet. At the end of two miles at Ascot last year he didn't seem to be stopping. We will look forward to the Gold Cup now and he could run in the Saval Beg before it. When he get there he pulls up and that's why he wears the cheekpieces. It is lovely that they went a gallop as he could take his time and he didn't have to make his own running.

He's a lazy horse. He doesn't mind going along in front and there's always plenty there when you want it. He has plenty of pace and he's able to get a position. He's a very straight-forward Montjeu . he can get a position early, travel along and he can be tough at the end. He's lazy that's why he wears the cheek-pieces. It helps him from being too lazy early on.

I rode the Gallinule Stakes winner some years ago for Aidan [Yohan Cruyff in 1997]. Leading Light wasn't enjoying that ground as it is bottomless, but I knew turning in that I would pick them up.
