His engine is in tact alright but his hurdle jumping brain hasn't changed much!. Hopefully everything will be alright over the next week and we'll probably look for something over fences for him the next time. He's not a natural hurdler. The main thing is just to recover from this race and look for a target after that. I sort of wondered whether I'd stay hurdling with him this season but the way he jumped there he's not going to step up in class much more. We schooled him over fences the other day, before Leopardstown, and maybe that's what was in his head but he hasn't the best reputation as a hurdler. We'll probably look for a chase. The Kinloch Brae in Thurles might come too soon. Maybe the Red Mills Chase might suit better. Today's job is done and the next job is to see how he comes out of the race, then we'll look at something after that. The conditions of this race suited. We entered him in other races over Christmas but these conditions suited and he needed all those weight advantages to win.

It's testing ground. Hopefully it's onwards and upwards. His jumping was fantastic. He was a three-mile horse over hurdles yet he can do that over two miles. The ground is very testing but it's good to be racing. Three mile hurdlers if they can jump fences can often come back in trip. I'd still be thinking of him as a staying chaser but looking at that I would not be afraid to run him over two miles again.

Killultagh Vic looks like a chaser but I'll have to have a chat with the owners who may consider keeping him over hurdles for the World Hurdle. I don't know if Shaneshill didn't stay or he's just feeling the effects of a couple of runs. We'll have to see if any excuse comes to light to explain why he appeared to stop. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of why that happened.

We thought there would be a lot more pace. Paul said they crawled and he just let him get to the front and he jumped well when he got there. He had the experience of running in a point-to-point, and he galloped on up the hill. Looking at the way he won today he should stay further than two and a half miles.

his (Killultagh Vic) run in Navan was good and I'd say they're two good horses (winner and runner-up) today, as I think a bit of mine. I think that is the ground he wants but he was very keen; if they go faster on better ground it would help him to settle better. We'll try for a winners' bumper now; I think he's a chaser in the making but he'll go hurdling next season.
