It all went very smooth, which you don't always get around here but he had a good draw and it was a little drop in class having run well here on Tuesday. He absolutely loves it here and is a better horse here, and I can't think why. We were very worried about the ground but as he is getting older, is handling the easier ground better than he used to. Even though he is a big horse, he likes the tight tracks and we'll tip away now. Leonard Kinsella owns him on his own for the past year, he is with me from the start and is a great friend of mine.

The left-haned wasn't a worry, he had run well in Killarney a few times. We thought the track would suit him and we were very confident of a big run today. He ran well in the Curragh the last day, but he just ended up having to come from a bit far back. It takes him a while to get up and get going. Yes, 100 per cent that (Galway) will be the next stop. We'll see if the handicapper gives him a chance. He's a fantastic horse to do anything with and is a real yard favourite, he's a real pet and a pleasure to have around the place.

I had my doubts about him getting the trip to be honest. Kevin Haigney, who owns half of him with Leonard (Kinsella), was keen to come here and we got away with it. Kevin also owns Atavique so it’s been a great couple of days for him and the pair of them are two great owners to have. He gets up the hill in Galway so well and yet Gary got off him just now and said that we just about got away with that. He thinks he gets the mile and no further. We’ll probably head straight to Galway with him now. This is the first time he’s won anywhere other than there.

That's brilliant. Getting in was the hard part. He came out of Tuesday's race as well as I've ever seen him and gave us huge confidence for today. Chris gave him a great ride, it panned out lovely and you couldn't ask for any more. The mile looks to be the job done with him but he was grand there and did what he had to do. It's great that it's coming together for him now at this stage of the game. We were very disappointed with him last year when we thought we'd do well. There were horses that were racing around him as a three-year-old that went on and did very well. We had high expectations but he just didn't go forward like we thought he would. He seems to be doing it this year for some reason and we are delighted. The handicapper went to town on him after Tuesday and it seems a bit exaggerated to me but sure it was great to get that anyway.

We were hemming and hawing whether we'd run him on the ground to be honest. We always believed he wanted good ground to be at his best. We took a chance on the bad ground, to take a pull and drop him in as he's normally ridden prominently as well. Gary is brilliant and it worked out. He's been running really well. His only one win before today was here so the track was never going to be an issue if we got a bit of luck. He's in towards the end of the week and we were thinking if it wasn't working out we'd try and mind him and come back at the end of the week as we thought the ground might be a bit better. If he's okay we'll probably run him back. It wouldn't be our thing to be running that quickly but on this particular occasion we just might.

I'm delighted for the horse as he deserved that. He has only run nine times and has finished second four times so I was hoping he would get his head in front and I'm delighted for Leonard (Kinsella) and Kevin (Haigney) who are my biggest supporters. We had no intention of coming to Galway until Gary (Carroll) got off him at Killarney and said Galway would suit him, so that was it. He is improving, is solid as a rock and has a fantastic temperament. He is big, is all there, and it is easy to train horses like him and I wish I had a stable full of horses like him. That's my first Galway festival winner as a trainer but I won the GPT as a jockey on Saving Bond for Noel Meade (in 1997).
