However such facts tell little of the drama that this two and a half miler threw up.

I'm delighted with both horses. I brought Gagewell Flyer back to two miles to get more experience of a fast run race into him and to get him jumping faster. He'll probably go for the Neptune Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham now. Earlson Gray looks a nice recruit for hurdling. He is still a maiden over hurdles but he won a chase in France and he can't run in maidens as a result. He'll stick to novice hurdles.

Bishopsfurze did today what I feared he would do the last day at Cork, as he has no respect for hurdles. Gagewell Flyer is improving all the time and Emmet gets those horses jumping well and has ridden three winners for me in the last week. Gagewell Flyer will have no problem staying three miles and we'll look at the Neptune Novices or Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdles at Cheltenham with him.

I was pleasantly surprise by that win as I was afraid the trip (2m) was on the short side for him. We were going to send him chasing but I will now chat with his owners and may decide to stay hurdling. Staying distances should suit him better and he should be better on better ground in the spring.
