She was very impressive. Once again Paul just rode her with complete confidence, he's transferring his confidence through to his horses and they are on fire with it,. He came through around the last bend knowing Brandy Love was going to go left. He went by her like she wasn't there. She's improving all the time. She's hard on herself but she's just about learning to settle now. We'll probably go back on the Flat with her but Flat racing does upset her a little bit, it gets her too geed up for this job. We'll see and have a good chat with the owners. She's done the job here today and that's what counts. She got very wound up in Cheltenham but I think she's maturing and some year she might be good enough to go back there. She'll be aimed at it next year anyway.

Echoes In Rain did it nicely, probably better than I expected. We thought we probably had the fastest horse in the race so Paul wasn't in any rush to get to the front. He was happy enough to let someone else make it. She was keen enough and probably the few runs on the Flat lit her up a bit. That's the problem you have when you mix it but with a faster run race she'll be alright. when you go up a grade, to Grade 1, I'm not sure she's sharp enough at two miles. The mares hurdle is 2m4f and maybe that's where she'll go. That would be the first port of call I'd think.

I wasn't sure which horse to shout for as my wife owns the second! Anyhow, I'm delighted he won it and delighted for the owners in Barnane Stud in Templemore, who have a very good flat enterprise. She is high quality, is a little temperamental in her races but Patrick said they went fast enough to get her settled. He stayed wide and out of trouble. The first and second came from 21 and 22 which hasn't been done in years, if it has ever been done, but the race is changing and becoming a higher quality race every year. Maze Runner ran a cracker and I'm delighted for Eliott Ohgren, a top class Swedish amateur, who has been with us for a year. this race has been a fixture of Galway for many years and Connacht Hotel are great sponsors to keep the tradition going.

it's a great start for Patrick and for the winning connections Barnane Stud. She's a filly that is improving as she learns about racing. She just made one mistake with Patrick. He sort of blamed himself but he didn't want to jump it as well as she was setting herself to jump it because she was going to land there too soon so he let her fiddle it. She's a filly that's now after winning at the top class and hopefully that's where she'll stay for the next couple of years. She could run on the Flat but it's taken us two years now to settle her down so I doubt that I'd run her on the Flat. I'd say we'll just stick to this jumping game. She's learning how to pace herself jumping now and you'd have to be happy with that.

She is learning the whole time and settling a bit better. I was kind of anxious to get a bit of cover and I was probably a place further back than I wanted to be. I was happy to sacrifice that to try and get her to settle. Every time I got a bit of light she got a bit keen with me. I was happy she wasn’t doing too much though and that’s the way she is. She wears her heart on her sleeve. When I got the gap at the back of the second last she has gone through it — probably too quick for the length of the straight here but it worked out well and she was doing it nicely. She’s got plenty of talent but she just needs to settle. She’s settling and learning all the time. We didn’t want to bring her to Cheltenham as she might boil over with the travelling. She’s improving all the time and will go to Punchestown now. In better races you can settle her in behind whereas in maiden races there wouldn’t be as much pace. The better ground was a huge factor and she showed a lovely turn of foot. It’s great to get a few quid off Paddy Kehoe (sponsor). He owned my first official winner.
