Getting in too close to the last when in command threatened to ruin things for connections and those that backed Jumbo Rio into 11/8 favourite (from 7/4 in the morning), but in fairness to Andrew McNamara's mount he knuckled down well to hold off the rallying Cuan Na Grai by a head in the featured Grade 3 Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle.

hopefully Cuan Na Grai stays sound during the summer for us now as he has had tendon trouble in the past and shattered his pelvis when brought down in the '09 Galway Hurdle. We'll stick to the conditions hurdles and chases next; he is rated 139 over fences and may have too much weight for the Galway Plate but we'll definitely have to think about it too.

I'm delighted to get him back to winning ways as he has had to come back from a few injuries over the years and we take what we can get with him nowadays.

The ground was perfect for him today, we didn't run him the last day as the ground was too fast and we don't want to break him down again. He was probably a bit deliberate at his hurdles today but everything going well we'll head to Galway and go for the good novice chase.

That was great, he's a good horse. He was very stiff after his unfortunate fall at Navan and it took a while to get him back to himself. We will keep him going now on Summer type ground now.
