I was a bit worried about the ground the way they finished in the first hurdle race. It looks like she has improved and there is a mares’ handicap here at the big meeting in a few weeks but that may come a bit quick. We’ll probably miss a bit of the heavier ground and aim for the spring as that seemed to be her time last season. She also had her wind done earlier this year and then won twice. She’s won her last four now. Jeremy is some sire.

She did very well after the mistake and I was watching Luke as well, he got a ferocious fall — the horse landed in the fence. Keith said he let her pop the last and she sort of propped and it's hard to rally them then. With Brides Hill out it was hard to know what way it would have worked out but it was a great start. We were always hoping she'd be a chaser. She finished off last year well. She definitely doesn't like heavy ground anyway but I'd say she'd go on most sorts of ground. She jumped very well apart from one mistake when they were maybe racing at the third last. She just changed her mind and she'll learn from it. I actually thought she was gone.

I thought she'd run well, it was her first handicap but she had a good bit of experience over hurdles. We were hopeful rather than confident. She won well in Naas and she's been consistent. Luke gave her a great ride and it's great to get it at a local track. It looked like she was beaten over the last, and she had to fight turning in, but thankfully she came out the better side of it. I'll talk to Ray (Fitzgerlad, owner) now but I'm looking forward to going over fences with her next season, there is a good program for these types of mares. I might give her a break but I'll have to talk to the boss. She's going the right way and is by a great sire (Jeremy).

We took a chance running her back quick but it being a point-to-point race I had to take a chance and there wasn't a suitable race for a while. She also hasn't come right in her coat and that was my biggest concern with her. We'll keep her for hurdling next season and she is a fierce honest mare and the further the better for her.
