He was a little bit brave to start with and then he got clumsy, but the cheekpieces woke him up. We've been thinking he's seriously well handicapped ever since he arrived from Ireland. It's taken its time, but he's shown it today. He'd been on the go all last summer in Ireland, running in the Galway Plate and the Kerry National, and all this winter here. I thought this might be one race too many for this season and he'd go and win first time out next season in a big chase. He didn't run any race over two and a half at Kempton last time, but I knew he was well handicapped to win a big race. He'll go out in the field now. It's great for Johnny. It's been a tough first year in England for him, but he tries very hard and he's proved he is top class.

he had a break after Leopardstown (in January); he was running a lovely race there until he fell at the last. Earlier on last season he was coming up against all those good novices so we gave him a break and he likes being fresh. Hopefully he can go forward from here now.

It's great to come here with a chance and great to get a winner,. . He had a good run in Navan but got a bit tired as he had missed a bit of work. The plan was today and Luke gave him a great ride. He's difficult as he can be keen. I have to thank the owner and thank Philip (Fenton) who put him my way after what happened.

He is a lovely horse. He was a bit sloppy jumping. The ground is a bit on the slow side for him, he never really dropped the bit or relaxed.
