He didn't really do much - he (Jack Kennedy) said he was kind of asleep under him most of the way. He says there is plenty of improvement and that he was always just in second gear to be honest. He said he was a bit novicey at a few of his jumps. It might not actually do him any harm just in behind, (instead of being) 25 lengths in front on his own the whole way. He was good over the last two. He said he'll come on, so we are happy. The plan is definitely Navan (2m4 Grade 3 Monksfield Novice Hurdle on 27th).

To be honest, he's probably one of the horses that makes me scratch my head more than any other. He keeps disappointing me and then he comes back with a good one again. He has obviously a big engine on his day, when he's right, but he's not easy to train. I thought Jack gave him a great ride. I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going with him, he's a horse that baffles me. We've just tipped away with him steady at home and haven't over-worked him as he was very fit going to Christmas, but just didn't get home. He's in a few of the novice chases at Cheltenham and he could go for an Irish National. I don't know what I'm going to do with him to be honest. We'll enjoy today, he's won a graded race for Noel and Valerie (Moran, Bective Stud) at their local track, they are big supporters of Navan and the whole game.

I was delighted with him. In fairness to Jack he’s put a lot of work into this horse and has been schooling him every day himself. He’s even been changing the bit and doing different things with him,. He finished his race out today which is the first time he’s done it since he was a bumper horse. I got deflated with him over hurdles as he never finished one out. I think he might have bled one day and it took him a long time to get over it. He looked good there today and hopefully he can keep going forward. He could maybe go to Limerick at Christmas.

He looked good today and hopefully he can keep going forward. He could maybe go to Limerick (for a Grade 1 race) at Christmas. I'm absolutely thrilled as that one meant as much as all the rest because Noel and Valerie (Moran, owners) are from Navan and are massive supporters of mine. That was extra special for me. They are good friends, we hit the crossbar with a few yesterday and they deserved every bit of luck they get with what they are putting into horseracing and into Meath football. They are just brilliant people and for them to have a winner today meant a lot.

I’m very happy with him and he’s done what we expected. I don’t think he could have done any more.

He won his point-to-point really well and his work at home had been really, really good. Gordon aims his nicer horses here and he's nice. There is (a big engine) and he's only four and he's going to improve. That's what you are looking for, you are looking for the next stars. Fingers crossed he can be another one for Noel and Valerie. I think he is a nice horse. Jamie, who doesn't say too much, was full of praise. He's definitely one for the future. We thought he was showing us the right signs in his work during the week. We have a lot of nice horses coming through and we are looking for the next champion. He might not just have the speed Sir Gerhard (last year's winner) had but he's a proper horse and I'd imagine we would go to Navan next for a graded bumper.
